Ellen McCormick, MD
Dr. McCormick is a native of Fremont County. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and is an experienced doctor with nearly thirty years in practice. She graduated from Canon City High School, attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for her MA in Biochemistry, and received her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Upon graduation she served in the US Air Force, completing a pediatric residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, followed by assignment to Peterson AFB as a general pediatrician. She and her husband started their family while living in Colorado Springs, and have three children. Dr. McCormick and her family returned to Canon City in 1995 to raise their children. She has practiced at Pediatric Associates of Canon City since then. Dr. McCormick served for nine years on the St. Thomas More Hospital Community Board, and was the Chairman from 2008-2009.
Janet Krein, PA-C
Janet Krein has been a Pediatric Physician Assistant for 23 years. She graduated from Yale University School of Medicine Physician Associate Program in 1990 and began a career in Pediatrics and Neonatology at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. She worked closely with Neonatologists and Pediatricians in the area to attend deliveries, admit to the NICU and to the Pediatric Ward to provide inpatient services to preemies and children. Janet also was preceptor for Physician Assistant students during their Pediatric rotation, and PA Residents in the Yale University Pediatric PA Residency program for 10 years in the hospital setting. She also worked with two Pediatric Practices to provide home visits for newborns and help mothers to successfully breastfeed. Janet left the hospital setting to work in private practice in 1998 and has worked in large and small Pediatric Practices since then. She obtained her second Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies, specializing in Pediatrics from the University of Nebraska School of Medicine Distance Learning Program. In 2005, after years of working with breastfeeding mothers and infants, she became a Certified Lactation Consultant. In 2008, she joined Dr Ellen McCormick at Pediatric Associates of Canon City and has enjoyed providing care to this community for the past 5 years. She continues to work with breastfeeding mothers in this setting. She lives in Canon City with her husband who is a high school science and math instructor and adjunct professor at Pueblo Community College. They just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
